Volunteer, Job & Fellowship Opportunities

Fellowship and Internship Opportunities

  • Fellowships for recent law graduates interested in working at ELC may be available through such programs as the Skadden Fellowship Foundation, Equal Justice Works, and the Independence Foundation Public Interest Law Fellowship Program, as well as fellowship programs administered by individual law schools. We're happy to consider sponsoring applicants for these fellowships; please contact us first to discuss your interest and proposed project. Applications are usually due in the fall for fellowships beginning the following summer. This year's deadlines are: Independence Fellowship, 9/29/2010; Skadden Fellowship, 10/4/2010; Equal Justice, not yet available.
  • Fellowships are also sometimes available for non-legal professionals in fields related to ELC’s work, through programs such as the Stoneleigh Center and Philly Fellows.
  • Summer internships: We’re happy to receive applications from law students who are interested in interning at the Center, on a volunteer basis or with funding from their law schools, during the summer. The best time to contact us about summer internships is in the fall.

Volunteering

  • Attorneys willing to accept an occasional pro bono case from ELC are invited to fill out our attorney survey. ELC provides assistance to volunteer attorneys. If you’re willing to take at least one pro bono case per year, we will also add your name to our referral list for families able to pay legal fees.
  • Attorneys who represent children in special education cases are also invited to join our pro bono speakers’ panel, which provides training to parents and organizations on special education law.
