Persons with disabilities who need accommodations (such as sign language interpreter services) in order to participate in an ELC-sponsored event are asked to notify ELC as much in advance of the event as possible.

The Arc of Philadelphia is sponsoring a 12-session special education advocacy training for parents, service providers, advocates, educators, lawyers, and therapists will be held from November through next May. The sessions are open to anyone interested in disability issues: parents, advocates, educators, lawyers, clinicians, social workers, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, psychologists, and others. Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of how to navigate the special education process.
People can attend one or all of the sessions. Graduates of the program will be eligible for Board certification as an Advocate.
The sessions will be held at the Arc of Philadelphia, 2350 W. Westmoreland Street.
Act 48 and CEU credits will be offered.

ELC Director of Client Services & Training Jenny Lowman will provide an overview of PA education laws for parents and guardians of youth with special needs. Case managers are also encouraged to attend.
