Training Leaders for Tomorrow
for Disabilities Rights Advocacy
The Education Law Center, the Disability Rights Network of Pennsylvania, and the Juvenile Law Center are working together on a multi-year project that will provide education and training to persons with disabilities, their family members, and other advocates on a wide-range of disability law and policy issues. DRN, ELC, and JLC are fortunate to have the generous support of the Pennsylvania Developmental Disabilities Council for this project.
The project, called "Train Leaders for Tomorrow," will provide trainings and educational materials on disability rights. Consistent with ELC's broader reform efforts, we will also use these training opportunities to develop a group of leaders. These leaders will receive intensive training that will provide them with an understanding of how state and local legislative, administrative, and judicial systems work and will provide opportunities to build relationships and networks to help achieve systemic reform.
Such a project will only succeed if we are able to provide the disability community and those who work with individuals with disabilities with relevant information that will help people be better advocates for themselves and others, and if we can deliver that information using methods and technologies that are the most useful and efficient for the audience we hope to reach.
We need your help. We have created a short survey that seeks your views on: (1) the topics you think it would be most helpful; and (2) the best training methods (e.g., live presentations, webinars, videos, etc.), ones you think will work best for you, persons with disabilities, family members, and advocates.
You can participate in the survey in English online.
Or in Spanish - En Espanol.
Thank you for your time and help!
