Cheryl Kleiman (she/her) is an attorney in our Pittsburgh office, where her work focuses on students and families at the intersection of multiple laws and systems to attain race, gender, and disability justice. Her work blends impact litigation, policy advocacy, and community engagement in support of systemic change. She has extensive experience working with parents, students, and community members across differences to advance education justice and build community power.
She was honored with the Community Partner Award by the Pittsburgh Local Task Force on the Right to Education and has been recognized by the Incline with “Who’s Next in Education” as one of Pittsburgh’s leaders in education.
Cheryl is a product of public schools – from Arizona public schools and the University of Arizona to the University of Washington, where she received her law degree. Prior to joining ELC, Cheryl worked for Seattle’s Center for Children & Youth Justice and served as the legislative director for the Washington State Bar Association Juvenile Law Section.
