TJ von Oehsen joined ELC in 2018 as a Haverford House Fellow. He works with ELC’s School Funding team to pursue a more adequately and equitably funded education system across the state of Pennsylvania.
TJ graduated from Haverford College last May where he majored in Sociology and minored in Educational Studies. While at Haverford, TJ served as a tutor at six different Philadelphia public, private, and charter schools and also volunteered as a tutor in a pre-GED classroom in the Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility for three years. TJ was also a staff member of Haverford’s Community Service Office where he organized and led service trips related to educational, restorative, environmental, and food justice.
As a Haverford House fellow, part of TJ’s fellowship involves living in a collaborative and communal living space in West Philadelphia that seeks to engage groups and organizations doing justice work across the greater region of Philadelphia in collaboration at their shared intersections.
