Pennsylvania’s Basic Education Funding Commission convened in 2023 to hold hearings and develop recommendations for how to comply with the court order in the school funding case, requiring that all students in Pennsylvania have access to adequately funded public schools.

Our testimony stresses this point: “The Basic Education Funding Commission therefore must carry out the most foundational task: set and develop a plan to meet a constitutional funding target sufficient to ensure each child can receive the public education that the Constitution requires.” It goes on to address how a constitutional funding target can be determined.
